It seems a very long time since I have managed to start catching up with all the ‘jobs’ which have got left behind!  So much has happened in the last two years on the personal front that photography seems to have taken almost second place except for the constant determination to take pictures of birds!  My Mother became seriously ill and we had to move her from her bungalow in St David’s to a lovely house in Solva called Rivendell.  Shortly after this it became obvious that she was suffering from dementia – a particularly nasty sort too which meant she suffered frightening and bewildering hallucinations on a daily basis.  Raul and I had to move in with her.  Throughout she was very brave facing each new phase of her life with determination and seeking still to support all those around her.  Unfortunately she died at the end of January this year and the time since seems to have been taken up with the confusing and complicated business of IHT and Probate.  I do wonder how the powers that be expect anyone to deal with the complexities of this – and the abstruse use of the English language –  when they are grieving for loved ones!  All this against a background of Covid 19 with its social distancing and absence of close contact with friends and family.  I will say this for my Mum she timed it just right with a lovely funeral and celebration tea days before lockdown.  Everyone has been both kind and supportive and now life is beginning to get back to an even keel.  Raul was great with Mum and is now happily painting, writing music and making boxes and gates for the garden from recycled pallets!.  He is filling them with his favourite lavender too.

We are closed of course, like everyone else, but I suspect we are finding that  less hard than most as Solva offers walks in the wood and by the sea.  The bluebells in the woods have been amazing and now we are at least able to meet up (socially distanced) with friends from one other household,  outside of course and share a glass of wine or use the pizza oven.  I hope all of you are staying safe and looking after yourselves.

I shall be blogging more now and on photography rather than on personal stuff and am working on a new website called www.fineartfotography.co.uk which should be on line by the end of July.  We look forward to seeing everyone when this is all back to whatever ‘normal’ will now be.  Just stay safe everyone.  Love Heather x
