This is part of an ongoing series of exhibitions exploring a visual interpretation of words used to express a feeling. Below is part of the poem which sought to amplify the image. There’s a booklet, ‘Shadow Self’, which contains my input to the works, although the exhibition itself was co-produced with photographer Philip Clarke.
Do you glimpse a stranger
reflected in the windows of the shop
as you pass by?
Do you wonder slightly shocked, who that person is?
It looks like your own familiar being
but
time has passed and blurred
the smooth, untested, flexibility
of youth.
The woman dreaming at her dressing table
sees a reflection that she is more familiar with
than the nowadays reality.
